iPhone Case Details Discovered?

iLounge has posted information detailing the possible dimensions and features of the 3G iPhone. According to the site, companies overseas have already started working on products for this design. It is basically the same size as the current iPhone, but has slightly different curves, coloration, and materials.

Developers believe that the “glossy black plastic iPhone” details are partially accurate; however, the material will approximate the look of metal through automobile-style gloss. Once flat on both the back and front, the enclosure will now be tapered like a MacBook Air, thicker at the center than at the sides.

The new version has what appear to be three separate sensors, or two sensors and a tiny second camera—the original camera stays where it was.

Glossy black or white backs are apparently set colors, with a red version possible. Each would have the same silver bezel on front, and black surrounding the screen.

Remote Buddy 1.10 Streams to iPhone, iPod touch

IOSPIRIT has announced the release of version 1.10 of Remote Buddy today.

WHAT’S NEW IN V1.10
Streaming of iTunes® media via WLAN to iPhone™ and iPod® Touch
The AJAX Remote integrated into Remote Buddy now supports the streaming of all files organized in iTunes®, so that they can be played back directly on the iPhone™ or iPod® Touch. Especially useful: complete playlists and albums can be played back automatically. As the media files remain on the Mac® and are only streamed to the iPhone™ or iPod® Touch, users no longer have to choose a 4/8/16/32 GB sized slice of their collection but rather can access their complete collection via their mobile device.

Extended AirTunes™- and output speaker support
While Remote Buddy users could already previously select the AirTunes™ speaker that iTunes® should send audio to, it is now also possible to select more than one AirTunes™ speaker. The computer’s audio output to be used can now also be selected via the AJAX Remote and in Remote Buddy’s onscreen menu.

Support for controlling additional applications
The new version brings support for also controlling the new Adobe® Media Player, Adobe Bridge (CS2 und CS3), the Toast Video Player and the media center software XBMC.

Improved Bluetooth® support
The administration of Bluetooth® devices used with Remote Buddy has been modernized and Sony® BD Remote users benefit of new possibilities to save precious battery power.

AT&T to Cut 3G iPhone Price By $200

AT&T is planning to put some extra shine on the even sleeker new Apple iPhone according to Fortune.

When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy.

This would bring the iPhone price down to $199 for customers who sign two-year contracts, the source says. Apple is expected to sell two versions of the new iPhone a 8GB ($399) and a 16GB ($499).

AT&T and Apple declined to comment.

According to Fortune at $200, the iPhone would be within reach of a much wider consumer market and give AT&T a strong magnet to pull lucrative customers away from rivals like Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The $200 rebate would not be available through Apple’s stores.

RIM: Looking for iPhone Developers

A new internal job listing at RIM suggests the company is looking to write applications for the iPhone.

AppleInsider has learned that the Waterloo, Canada-based smartphone designer is distributing the notice only within the company and is keeping most details hidden even to those aware of the posting.

“As part of a newly-created team, you’ll influence the development and design of BlackBerry software,” the listing reads. “This is a very confidential brand new team and a senior position within RIM so I can’t provide too many details. I guess you can figure out what it might be about though.”

Microsoft Launches Messenger for Mac 7

Microsoft launches Messenger for Mac 7 and it delivers audio and video for the first time in the corporate service.. The following excerpt is taken from the Mac Mojo Blog!

—–
Messenger for Mac 7 includes cool new features for both the corporate service (works with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007) and personal service (works with the Windows Live service). But the biggest milestone here is that Messenger for Mac 7 delivers audio and video for the first time in the corporate service.

One of the exciting features in this release is Bonjour support in Messenger for Mac, available in both personal and corporate services. Using the Mac OS X Bonjour technology, Messenger for Mac 7.0 includes the ability to detect other Messenger for Mac users that are near by on the same local network. Are you at work on the weekend and want to check if anyone else is around? Turn on Bonjour to see who is there…

If you work in an organization deploying Office Communications Server 2007, I think you will enjoy the new features in the corporate service. Messenger for Mac 7 makes it a whole lot easier to track down co-workers you need to contact. Using the new search feature, you can easily search for people in your organization and start communicating with them.

You will also notice more detailed presence information that is compatible with the presence model of Office Communications Server 2007. Messenger for Mac 7 displays additional presence states to better reflect your contacts (or your own) availability. For example, Messenger for Mac will automatically set your status to ‘In a call’ when you are in an Audio or Video call. Messenger for Mac 7.0 also allows you to add a personal note in case you want to provide a little more information about your status (for example: “I’m available through Messenger only!”).

Through the corporate service in Messenger for Mac, you can now conduct virtual meetings with your co-workers using audio and video calls. You can communicate inside or outside your corporate network, you can communicate with co-workers running Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 on Windows, you can even participate in a multi-party Audio or Video conference.

Speaking of Audio and Video support, in the blog post “A Chat about Messenger”, posted back in November, I shared with you background information on why AV is not available yet in the Personal service. We are on track with the plan mentioned in the last post, as we are delivering Audio and Video on Corporate service first. We are making progress and working on the delivery of Audio and Video for the personal service and are looking forward to getting the feature out there and in your hands as soon as we can!

There are a few other new features we included in the Personal service…

You can now assign nicknames to your contacts. Do you know two people named Jack and can never tell them apart in your contact list, since they both have their display name set to Jack? Put an end to the confusion and assign them some identifiable nicknames! Do you have a friend that insists on changing his\her display name to a different expression everyday? Use a nickname to reduce the amount of time you spend trying to identify your contact in the contact list.

Has anyone out there finally reached the point of having too many contacts for their own good and now can’t find anyone on that long list of contacts? Just use the new contact search field to look them up.

Better experience it all yourself… go check out Messenger for Mac 7 at the Mactopia site.

And on that note, I’m going back to work now on the next version of Messenger for Mac!

The iPhone is Popular Among the Russian Elite

The ability to unlock the iPhone enables users around the world to enjoy the iPhone, and the elite of Russia are no exception. In fact, the iPhone is the latest must-have for Russia’s elite, numbering about 500,000 in all in the country already. Eldar Murtazin, head of analysis at Moscow’s Mobile Research Group, estimated the number based on data collected from local cellphone operators.

“Russian people love anything that is forbidden,” Mr. Murtazin said.

This is despite the US$700 price that iPhones sell for in that country. Of course, this is nothing compared to the $1,800 it sold for when it was first launched in the US.

Sergei Bobovnikov, Soviet propaganda art dealer said, “It’s a prestige thing. Having an iPhone is like being part of a club.”

For a small fee, Russian hackers will unlock iPhones and install a Russian language pack on the device, as well as modify it to work on the Russian cell phone system.
